Cheng's foundation tutorial provides a practical, step-by-step introduction to computer-aided design drawing using AUTOCADŽ RELEASE 13. It presents AutoCADŽ commands in context of hands-on exercises that guide first-time users through: entity creation, editing, and manipulation; creation of engineering drawings; preparation, dimensions, and plotting hard-copy documents; and an introduction to 3D CAD drawing using wireframe models and 3D polygonal meshes. The book concentrates on how to perform two basic tasks - creating a model drawing, and then editing it. Once users learn how to create and edit a drawing, they then study techniques in manipulating it. A summary of all AutoCADŽ commands used in the exercises is found in the appendix at the end of the book, making this a useful working reference for professional engineers and designers. Mechanical engineering drawings are used as working examples, but the skills covered are equally applicable to any branch of engineering. More Reviews and Recommendations Ron K. C. Cheng teaches a variety of CAD and other software courses at the Industrial Center of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He helped establish a training program for CAD technologies and design engineers in the Hong Kong industrial community. He is a well established and successful author, having written both Using Autodesk Inventor R3 & now R6, as well as having revised our MDT book origanally done by Dan Banach, Maximizing Mechanical Desktop R6. |
