The second edition features extensive revision from the first (published in 1997), particularly to the chapters on decay of charge, electrical breakdown, electrostatic effects, and electrostatic measurements. Attention is given to charge decay, charge neutralization by air ions, and the breakdown between conductors with different electrode geometry. Designed as a handbook for non- specialists as well as engineers, the material is presented in an approachable style, with many diagrams. Jonassen is emeritus in physics at the Technical U. of Denmark; he currently writes the "Mr. Static" column in Compliance Engineering.
