The exergy analysis method, according to Szargut (Silesian U. of Technology, Poland), allows for the detection and quantification of the possibilities for improving thermal and chemical processes and systems. He describes the basic principles exergy analysis and explains recent research using the method in the areas of the calculation of the chemical exergy of stable chemical element, global natural and anthropogenic exergy losses, improvement of the thermodynamic imperfection of thermal processes and systems, and determination methods of partial exergy losses. Aimed at graduate students and engineers in the field of energy and ecological management, the monograph assumes a knowledge of basic thermodynamics.
