Radar Reflectivity of Land and Sea, Third Edition

Radar Reflectivity of Land and Sea, Third Edition ebook

This state-of-the-art edition of a radar classic brings you up-to-date on new developments in clutter measurement and modeling and features a wealth of new information not found in other currently available books. Authored by a recognized expert in the field, the book covers everything from basic concepts of radar reflectivity to space-time clutter amplitude and bistatic clutter. New radar engineers will find this to be a valuable, all-encompassing, well-illustrated survey of radar relectivity fundamentals. Veteran engineers and systems designers will appreciate the book's new coverage of: effects of frequency agility, spatial averages for terrain, graphs from GIT clutter models, land and sea echo at extremely low grazing angles, compound statistics including the K and the Rayleigh modulated by Wiebull distributions, super sea echo events and sea spikes, bistatic land and sea clutter, and more.

Maurice W. Long is a radar consultant who specializes in system concept development and target detection in clutter. While at Georgia Tech, he managed the development of a number of radar systems, and held research and academic positions including radar branch head, electronics division chief, and director of the Engineering Experiment Station (now Georgia Tech Research Institute). He received a B.S. from Georgia Tech and an M.S. from the University of Kentucky, both in electrical engineering. He also received an M.S. and a Ph.D. in physics from Georgia Tech. Dr. Long has taught electrical engineering at Georgia Tech and the University of Kentucky, and during 1966 he was a liaison scientist with the U.S. Office of Naval Research in London. He has served on various U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and NASA committees on radar. Currently, on an occasional basis, Dr. Long is a graduate-level instructor at the Southern Polytechnic State University and a principal research engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. He was the editor of Airborne Early Warning System Concepts (Artech House, 1992), and his other publications include book chapters and papers on radar, propagation and scattering, and antennas. Dr. Long is a member of Commission F of URSI and of the Academy of Electromagnetics, and is a Life Fellow of the IEEE. He can be contacted at maurice.longC>gtri.gatech.edu.
